Where do the donations go?

The donations to Swim4Brains are spent on two projects of the Hersenstichting (Brain Foundation):

  • The Class โ€“ reintegration program for young people with ABI*

  • Research into preventing, slowing down, or curing ABI*

*acquired brain injury

The Class

With The Class, the Hersenstichting offers a program to increase the chances of young adults (18 โ€“ 30 years old) with ABI in the labor market. It is a coaching and reintegration program with the aim of making the young people ready for work and guiding them to a suitable, sustainable workplace. This is necessary because the severe limitation of opportunities on the labor market currently causes many young adults with brain injuries to stay at home or do work below their capacity. The Class offers help.

A place in The Class costs โ‚ฌ9,000. We do our best to fill as many places as possible, thereby giving these young people another chance at a place in working life.

Research

The Hersenstichting pulls out all the stops for a healthy brain for everyone. Now and in the future. We do not focus on just one disorder, but invest broadly in groundbreaking solutions that help prevent, slow down, or cure brain disorders. To achieve this, we commission scientific research, among other things. Below are some important ongoing studies on various brain disorders funded by the Hersenstichting.
